MATHTEACH Collaborative is composed of local school districts committed to supporting their teachers in earning a Master of Liberal Arts in Mathematics from Harvard University Extension School.
MASTER OF LIBERAL ARTS IN MATHEMATICS FOR TEACHERS
The three-year program is designed to fit the schedules of working teachers. It consists of three summer residencies, seven weeks each, at Harvard University. The remaining coursework during the academic years will be completed online. Summer housing is available for out of town students and included in the cost of the program. Teachers in the program continue working together throughout the summer and online courses, using social media to develop a professional networking group.
Earn a Master of Liberal Arts in Mathematics degree in three years (online and 7-week summer residencies)
Learn from renowned mathematics faculty at Harvard Univeristy.
Participate in professional networks with teachers from across the country.
Develop and apply skills in curriculum innovation.
Develop an enhanced understanding of what it means to learn math and where mathematical misconceptions and student confusion can occur.
Professional Development component will be conducted by Harvard University faculty and is open to all district high school mathematics teachers throughout the Fall/ Spring of each year.
Students will visit Ivy League Universities in the Boston area and learn about admissions, scholarships, study abroad programs, undergraduate research oppourtunities.
